A Devon man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges following the death of David Coxon in the Holton Heath area near Wareham.
On 15 March 2016, at Winchester Crown Court Jason James – 41 and of Torquay – admitted the offence. He was arrested on Saturday 5 March 2016 and charged on Sunday 6 March 2016.
An investigation was launched by Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) following a report of a serious assault at Sandford Holiday Park along Organford Road at around 2.20am on Saturday 5 March 2016.
On arrival officers had discovered David Coxon with serious injuries. Sadly he died at the scene.
The offender and victim were known to each other.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Mark Samuel, of Dorset Police’s MCIT, said: “Our thoughts are with David’s family at this difficult time.
“The family has been supported by family liaison officers throughout the investigation.
“I hope today’s plea brings some closure for them.”
Jason James is due to be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on Friday 8 April 2016.
