Diverse Abilities celebrated its 60th anniversary in true style at the end of November at its first ever gala ball, held at Poole Lighthouse, raising over £60,000 for the charity that supports children and adults with disabilities in Dorset, and their families.
The Diamond Gala Ball was a spectacular event with over 400 people attending. Adults and families the charity supports, Diverse Abilities staff, sponsors, other members of the local community and sports personalities, Anya Kay the charity’s ambassador and football pundit Graham Souness, had a memorable time from the moment they walked in on the red carpet until carriages arrived at 1am.
Guests enjoyed a drinks reception, a three course meal, wine and entertainment from a string quartet, 12-piece band DT8 and DJ. There were also two chances to win a diamond during the evening, kindly donated by Franses Jewellers, a silent auction, raffle and photo booth.
Mark Powell, CEO at Diverse Abilities, said: “Everyone in attendance had a fantastic time and it was a truly unforgettable night. It was great to see so many people celebrating our 60th year and helping us raise over £60,000. A massive thank you goes to all our sponsors – Franses Jewellers, Trethowans Solicitors incorporating Dickinson Manser, BBX (Business Bank Exchange), Forelle Estates, Ward Goodman and Supply Shack. Without their support the event could not have happened.”
The monies raised at the Diamond Gala Ball, and other events Diverse Abilities run every year, has a huge impact on the children, adults and families the charity supports. Without the help of the local community Diverse Abilities could not run its services and make a difference to those it cares for, providing children and adults a future they deserve and also being a lifeline to parents.
