Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses and have released an e-fit of man wanted in connection with a distraction burglary in Winterbourne Steepleton.
The incident happened on Friday, 31 May at about 8.30am when a woman in her 90s was in her garden. She was approached by a man claiming to be a gardener and handy man. The victim declined any gardening work but agreed to have a toilet seat fixed.
The offender stated that he would need to go and buy an additional part and persuaded the victim for payment up front. The man left but never returned to complete the work.
Police Constable Jess Chapman, of Dorchester police, said: “This is a deplorable crime against an elderly woman.
“I am now able to release an e-fit of the offender.
“I would urge the man pictured – and anyone who recognises him – to call Dorset Police.
“The offender may have been driving a white pickup truck.
“I am appealing for anyone who recalls any suspicious activity in the area at the time and anyone with any information about the person responsible to contact police.”
The offender is described as white, in his late 30s, of stocky build with a round face. He has short dark hair and was wearing a dark coloured boiler suit.
