Police are issuing an image in a bid to identity the owner of the USB drive so that the property can be returned.

On 29 March it was reported that a homeowner disturbed an intruder in a garage in Penrith Road. The offender had their face covered and was seen trying to remove a bicycle from the garage before they made off from the scene.

They left behind a rucksack, which contained a USB drive that officers believe did not belong to the offender and had been stolen from another address. As well as the drive, officers found a slip of paper from Mojo Surf, Australia.

On the drive are images of The Great Barrier Reef and what appear to be a number of selfies.

Police Community Support Investigator Kayleigh Holder, of Dorset Police, said, “We are making enquiries to identify who the USB drive belongs to and are releasing an image from the drive in the hope that it will prompt the owner to come forward. We have pixilated their face to protect their identity.

“I would urge anyone who recognises this photo or has any information about either the recovered USB drive or the attempted burglary in Penrith Road to please contact us.

“I would like to stress that it is not believed that the person in the image has any connection with the attempted burglary and we are purely trying to identify them so we can return their property.”
