A teenage boy and girl got into difficulties whilst dog walking off Peverell Avenue East in Dorchester yesterday evening (26 February).
The land on which they were walking had areas of deep mud between patches of hardstanding and the two teenagers became stuck up to their lower thighs in the mud. An on-call crew from Dorset Fire and Rescue Services in Dorchester attended and firefighters were able to get close enough on areas of hardstanding to pull them out manually. The teenagers were reunited with their families, safe and unharmed.
A spokesperson from Dorset Fire and Rescue Services says that “with the rainfall we have had recently and the saturation of the ground, all walkers should take extreme care, especially if walking away from designated routes and paths.”
