Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) is asking for donations of unwanted art to raise money for wildlife in Dorset. The art will be displayed during the Art Weeks’ celebrations at the Kingcombe Centre, near Dorchester, from Saturday 24 May to Sunday 8 June 2014.
An exclusive gallery of pre-loved art pieces, which have all been donated to the wildlife charity, will be exhibited during the two week art exhibitions and auctioned off or given a ‘buy it now price’, with all the proceeds going back into helping wildlife in Dorset.
Pieces donated so far include work by sculptor and artist David Nash, OBE who has exhibitions all over the world, most recently in Kew Gardens in London, and Maggie Hambling, CBE, who has work displayed in the National Portrait Gallery, the British Museum and the Tate Collection.
DWT Trustee, Jo Davis said: “We want to invite members of the public to donate art that they might have bought in years gone by that has been languishing in the attic to Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Art Weeks event. Any money raised will be a significant contribution to our fundraising efforts. We’d also love to hear its ‘life story’ so we can display the art in context in our gallery.”
It’s not too late to make a contribution. Please contact Fiona Sansom on 01305 264620 for more information or to arrange collection. Alternatively you can send your pre-loved art to us directly at Brooklands Farm, Forston, Dorchester, Dorset, DT2 7AA
The Kingcombe Centre will be hosting a variety of events and wildlife art exhibitions for 12 artists during Arts Weeks.
