Students at East Dorset schools have been given safety packs which include items to prevent drugs being slipped into bottles at pubs and clubs as well as personal alarms.
The packs have been sponsored by East Dorset District Council’s Community Fund and Wimborne Rotary Club.
They are being distributed to students during talks given by Wimborne Rotary Club President Derek Radley about the charity Victim Support outlining the dangers of spiking drinks in clubs and pubs and the support that is available to them should they fall victim or know of anyone who has been a victim.
The latest talk has been at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne where year 12 students heard about the Victim Support charity.
Tracy Cooper, Community & Recreation Officer at East Dorset District Council, said: “The students are being given important advice to keep them safe from dangers which could happen when they go out to pubs and clubs when they leave school for university. The packs that we have funded in conjunction with Wimborne Rotary Club will also help them recognise the dangers and how to avoid having their drinks spiked.”
