Dorchester drug dealer jailed following police operation

Dean McEvoy, 20 and of Dorchester, pleaded guilty at Dorchester Crown Court to possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply. He was sentenced on Monday 22 August 2016 to three years in prison for possession of heroin and 28 days for the possession of crack cocaine to run concurrently.

At 10.30am on Thursday 3 December 2015, police executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in Dorchester.

Officers located McEvoy, who attempted to stop officers getting into the bathroom of the property, the court heard. He was also seen with something in his mouth that he tried to swallow.

A search of the bathroom found a quantity of cash and a mobile phone.

He was also found in possession of heroin and crack cocaine with the total street value of £730.

Police Sergeant Ged Want, of Dorchester police, said: “We are actively targetting and disrupting drug networks in Dorchester and I am pleased with the sentence given by the courts.

“Dorchester is a very safe place to live and work, however we want to work with the local community in order to drive out drug dealing from our town and all its associated crime.

“I would like to praise the officers involved in the operation and those who robustly investigated McEvoy’s crimes to bring him to justice.

“We are not complacent and we will continue to address any concerns residents have.”
