Dorchester singer/songwriter releases first single
A singer/songwriter from Dorchester is releasing her first single, a beautiful song she wrote for struggling friends.
The single, ‘It’s Ok To Not Be Ok’, was written and sung by Nina Garcia. She wrote the song in memory of friends she had lost, and to recognise family and friends who have struggled through the recent lockdowns.
The single was produced by Nashville producer Roger Ryan, who has previously worked with Wynonna Judd, Cece Winans and Whitney Houston.
Performing since the age of nine, Nina is no stranger to a musical environment. She started out playing fiddle in a family band with her mum, dad and brother. They toured extensively supporting, among others, Shane McGowan and the Pogues, The Dubliners and Davey Furey.
The song reflects how many of us have been feeling over the past year. With anxiety and depression sadly on the rise we all need to reach out to people when we see the signs to assure each other that ‘It’s OK To Not Be OK’.
