Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is represented in three categories at this year’s Air Ambulance Awards of Excellence. Paramedics Greg Peacock, Stephen Freeman and Pilot Max Hoskins have been shortlisted for the Special Incident Award. Dorchester based Keith Wilson is shortlisted for Charity Volunteer of the Year and Dr Farhad Islam (known to many as ‘Izzy’ who is based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital) makes the shortlist for Air Ambulance Doctor of the Year.
All nominees in the nine categories were considered by an independent judging panel. Chairman of the panel, Guy Opperman MP said, “The standard of the nominees was extremely high and it was no easy task to shortlist for each Award as each and every one of them deserves recognition. However, we feel that we have selected nominees who represent the dedication and commitment of those involved in the excellent work carried out by UK air ambulance charities.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony being held on the 18th November 2013.
