Dorset businesswoman to pitch on BBC’s Dragons’ Den
An entrepreneur from Dorset will present her football shoe accessory business, Laceeze, on the popular BBC business show next Thursday.
An entrepreneur from Dorset will face the wrath of the dragons on the popular BBC business show, ‘Dragons’ Den’, on Thursday 9 January.
Emma Burke, a dedicated mother and business owner from Dorset who now lives in Hampshire, will appear in the first episode of the new series. The programme also features an exciting guest Dragon: the health and fitness expert Joe Wicks.
Burke will pitch her innovative product: a silicone band designed to prevent football shoelaces coming undone during football and rugby matches, geared toward youth and grassroots sports. She founded the business, Laceeze, in 2017, after deciding to find a solution to the challenge of keeping her two and was inspired by two football-mad sons’ laces in place during games. What began as a small-scale endeavour has grown into a flourishing enterprise that has sold over 400,000 pairs of bands. Emma’s mission to simplify sports for children while supporting their confidence on the field.
On the show, Burke will pitch her business product to a panel of wealthy investors – the Dragons – and look to sell a percentage of her business to them in exchange for money to invest in growing Laceeze.
In this episode, viewers will witness Burke’s passion for youth sports and her drive to bring practical solutions to families. While the outcome of her pitch remains under wraps, her appearance demonstrates the potential for innovation born out of a personal mission.
Reflecting on her experience, Burke said: “Stepping into the Den was a nerve-wracking yet exhilarating opportunity to share my story and vision with such high-profile and influential investors. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.”
The first episode of series 22 of ‘Dragons’ Den’ will air on BBC One on Thursday 9 January at 8pm.
