Dorset care home provider introduces dementia care coaches
Care South has introduced dementia care coaches to all its care homes across Dorset, north Devon, Somerset and West Sussex.
Residential and home care provider Care South has introduced a highly specialist dementia care coaches training programme to all of its care homes across Dorset, north Devon, Somerset and West Sussex.
This coaching scheme aims to ensure that each home continues to provide the latest, best practices around dementia care, through practical on-location leadership and guidance from the coaches.
Over the past 18 months, each care home nominated a representative to become a dementia care coach and complete an intensive and comprehensive training programme. Coaches will now work closely with colleagues and relatives to enhance the wellbeing of residents living with dementia. They will also provide support to the families of those living with dementia.
The completion of the coaching programme comes during Professional Care Workers Week, running from 16 to 20 September 2024, which celebrates the dedication and essential contribution of care workers.
Maggie Searle, director of HR at Care South, said: “We are incredibly proud of our new dementia care coaches and the positive impact they will have on the residents, their families, and our care teams.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to providing person-centred, compassionate care for those living with dementia, ensuring that they continue to live with dignity and respect. By equipping our staff with specialist knowledge and skills, we are strengthening the support we offer across our care homes.”
