Dorset charities receive £571,000 from Talbot Village Trust
Talbot Village Trust has awarded grants worth more than half a million pounds to 36 charitable organisations across south-east Dorset.
Talbot Village Trust, a local grant-giving charity dedicated to helping people to live well, has awarded grants totalling £571,098 to 36 charitable organisations across east Dorset, Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, and Purbeck.
The grants range in value from £1,200 to £60,000. They are designed to drive positive social change and foster wellbeing across communities.
Some of the grants awarded include: £50,000 to Citizens Advice East Dorset and Purbeck to help reduce the risk of households becoming homelessness over the next two years; £10,000 to Diverse Abilities to help refurbish ‘The Treehouse’ site located in Hurn; £10,000 to Poole Waste Not Want Not to sustain their services for one year, supporting low-income families; and £2,000 to Wild and Free Therapy for an eight-week surf therapy programme for children and young people with disabilities.
This funding represents the first of the Trust’s two grant cycles for the year. Nicholas Ashley-Cooper, chairman of Talbot Village Trust, said: “Our mission is to support organisations making significant improvements in our community, supporting individuals of all ages. We are thrilled to continue backing a wide spectrum of causes, from educational and youth programmes to charitable and faith-based initiatives. We look forward to announcing the recipients of our second grant cycle later this year.”
Rachel Weiss, chief operating officer from Age UK North, South & West Dorset, which received £4,600 for its Forget-Me-Not dementia support group in Purbeck, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Talbot Village Trust for supporting our Forget-Me-Not provision in the Purbecks. We hope, with this funding, we can support even more people with dementia and their carers to access support, information and social activities”.
The deadline for new applications for the Autumn 2024 round is 31st July 2024, with decisions to be made in November 2024.
Organisations interested in applying for funding can find more information about the application process on the Trust’s website: www.talbotvillagetrust.co.uk or by emailing info@talbotvillagetrust.org.
