Dorset charity challenge to double donations
Diverse Abilities’ The Big Give Christmas Challenge will enable the charity to raise thousands of pounds in one week.
For one week only in December, Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, has the chance to double the value of the donations it receives.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge runs from midday on Tuesday 2 December to midday on Tuesday 9 December, with all donations made via the Big Give website being doubled.
Therefore, a £10 donation will become £20 and a £50 donation will become £100, plus Gift Aid can be added if applicable.
The matched funding comes from an individual who has supported the charity for a number of years, plus a pledge from The Reed Educational Trust Limited.
Helen Mortimer, head of fundraising at Diverse Abilities, said: “We are really excited to have teamed up with the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge for the second year running and to have the opportunity to double the donations given during this special week. The money raised will ensure we continue to deliver speech and language therapy to all the pupils at Langside School.”
Over seven days, Diverse Abilities aims to reach a total target of £79,711 to fund a full year of speech and language therapy, plus the tools and training needed to make it work, including: EyeGaze technology, touchscreen devices, personalised communication books, specialist software and expert training for families and staff.
This transformative speech and language therapy can improve wellbeing for the whole family by giving the children who attend Langside School opportunities to make choices and express themselves, feel calm and understood, and alert others to pain or discomfort.
