Dorset charity showcased on BBC’s The One Show
The CEO of a local charity, MYTIME Young Carers, appeared on ‘The One Show’ on Tuesday 9 September.
The head of a local charity that supports young carers was invited to appear on the popular BBC programme ‘The One Show’ on Tuesday 9 September.
MYTIME Young Carers CEO Krista Cartlidge was interviewed as part of a segment exploring the often-overlooked realities faced by young carers in schools. The segment was led by Alexander Dragonetti, known as a contestant on ‘The Traitors’ in 2025. He is a former British diplomat and an advocate and activist for education, disability, and health causes.
Based in Dorset, MYTIME works nationally through a range of initiatives, including its 2025 Charity Award-winning Level Up Programme, which partners with schools across the UK to properly identify and support young carers throughout their years in education.
Part of the segment was filmed in Bishop Aldhelm’s CE Primary School in Poole, featuring staff and pupils. Viewers heard directly from several young carers, including 10-year-old Emberly, who shared a glimpse into her daily caring responsibilities at home. Headteacher Scott Tait appeared in the segment as well, delivering an assembly on young carers to the students.
MYTIME’s Krista Cartlidge said: “We were thrilled to be featured on The One Show alongside Bishop Aldhelm’s CE Primary School, who have worked extremely closely with MYTIME to transform their provision for young carers.
“This film shines a light on the vital work their school is doing to identify and support young carers, and it highlights the tangible difference this type of support can make to young carers and their families. Young carers across the UK deserve the same opportunity to be seen, heard and supported by their schools and MYTIME is delighted to be able to provide the training and support schools need to do this.”
