Dorset children offered school places
Children starting school for the first time in September, or moving to junior or middle school, have today found out where they will be going.
Parents and carers across the Dorset Council area have today been told which school their children will be attending from September.
Parents are able to choose up to three schools in order of preference. Just under 96 per cent have been offered their first choice of school, compared to just under 95 per cent in 2021.
The School Admissions team at Dorset Council received 4,302 applications. Of these, 4,112 families were offered their first choice of school – a total of 95.58 per cent.
Dorset Council portfolio holder for Children, Education and Early Help, Cllr Andrew Parry, said: “Starting school, or joining a new one, is a big step in a child’s life so I am pleased that so many families have been offered their first choice.
“I wish them all the best of luck for September and thank everyone involved in the school allocation process for their work to make this happen.”
