Dorset Council services to close on Monday 19 September
Kerbside bin collections will be suspended and recycling centres, libraries, leisure centres and Registration Offices will be closed.
On Monday 19 September, having been declared a Bank Holiday in respect of the funeral of HM The Queen, Dorset Council is to suspend its services for the day.
There will be no kerbside bin collections of any kind on the day, but if your bins are usually emptied on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, put your waste out as normal.
If your bins, bags or boxes are usually collected on a Monday, the rubbish and recycling ones will be emptied on Saturday 24 September. Do not put your rubbish or recycling bin out until Friday night (23 September).
Food waste bins will be emptied on your next collection day (Monday 26 September). If you need to dispose of your food waste before this time, take it to a household recycling centre from Tuesday 20 September.
Dorset Council hopes to catch up with garden waste collections from Tuesday 20 September, so leave your bin out until it is emptied.
Dorset Council tips will be closed all day Monday 19 September, as will libraries, leisure centres, Registration Offices and the Crematorium, except for services that are already booked.
Dorset Direct, the customer services team, will be closed for general enquiries on Monday 19 September. In an emergency, please call 01305 221000 (24 hours a day).
Books of condolence will remain open at Dorset Libraries this week under normal opening hours.
Dorset Council’s country parks will be open but on-site concessions such as visitor centres, cafés, and other leisure facilities will be closed. The car park at Moors Valley will also be closed.
