Dorset hospice charity raises £10,000 with fashion show
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care partnered with Arts University Bournemouth to launch its first-ever sustainable fashion show.
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care recently partnered with Arts University Bournemouth to hold a fundraising sustainable fashion show.
The show was held at the Porsche Centre in Ferndown on 25 September and showcased AUB’s ‘Trash to Treasure’ collection. The funds raised will enable the charity to deliver care for those facing life-threatening illness as well as go towards 550 hours of free hospice care and services, including its 12-week hospice programme.
The event, sponsored by Marston Holdings, used unsold garments from Lewis-Manning’s Winton charity shop with the outfits designed by BA (Hons) Fashion and BA (Hons) Textiles students. The finale then delivered a Bridgerton-style themed catwalk with costumes created by BA (Hons) Costume students, previously used in Hurn Court Opera’s production of La Cenerentola.
El Crehan from AUB said: “Our students were honoured to take part in such a meaningful project.
“To see their work raise funds for the essential work Lewis-Manning Hospice Care carries out in our local community made the project even more special, celebrating our shared belief in creativity for good.”
Anna DuRose, events fundraiser at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, said: “The energy and creativity on the catwalk were inspiring, and it was wonderful to bring the community together in support of hospice care.”
She added: “Together we raised more than £10,000, which will help fund over 550 hours of free hospice care for people and families across Dorset.”
Those who attended were able to purchase items at a discounted price from luxury fashion brands such as Boden, Sandbanks Luxury Goods, Love Not Lost and Lewis-Manning’s own collection.
