Dorset national coastwatch watchkeepers on BBC's Eggheads
The team from three dorset national coastwatch stations are to appear on BBC2’s Eggheads quiz competition this Friday, 10 March.
A team of six watchkeepers chosen from three of Dorset’s National Coastwatch stations will be representing the National Coastwatch Institution in the BBC2 Eggheads competition to be screened at 6pm on Friday 10th March. They are David Martin, Shelley Cranshaw and John Newth from the St Albans Head station, John Ungley from the station at Portland Bill and Judi Gifford and Geoff Goy from the Lyme Bay Station at Burton Bradstock.
Eggheads is a general knowledge quiz in which teams from all over the United Kingdom battle to beat the formidable Eggheads team. We will have to wait until 10th March to see how the National Coastwatch team from Dorset fared, but apparently they all felt very honoured to represent the National Coastwatch Institution in the popular and challenging TV quiz competition.
The National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) supports HM Coastguard by keeping a visual watch along UK shores. Its trained watchkeepers assist in hundreds of potentially life-threatening incidents every year. Everyone in NCI is a volunteer and the organisation is funded entirely by contributions from the public.
There are four stations in Dorset: St Albans Head, Peveril Point (Swanage), Portland Bill, and Lyme Bay (Burton Bradstock).
