Dorset Police and Hampshire Constabulary news in brief
Police are appealing for information from the public in connection with some recent incidents in Dorset and Hampshire.
Recent incidents in Hampshire and Dorset could be investigated more fully with help from the general public. Can you assist with any of the following?
DORSET
Wednesday 1 May 8.05am – serious injury collision Ashley Road in Boscombe near the junction with Windham Road
The collision involved a grey Vauxhall Mokka and a local man – a pedestrian in his 70s. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A woman in her 30s has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences. If you have any information or dashcam footage to assist the police please get in touch and quote incident number 1:88.
Sunday 14 April around 7.30pm – reported break-in at St Peter’s Church, Grove Road, Portland
Various brass items have been stolen from the church. These include two plaques, candlesticks and a crucifix. Images of some of the stolen items are pictured. If you’ve been offered them for sale in suspicious circumstances please get in touch with Dorset Police. Occurrence number 55240055586.
Saturday 20 April between 2.30am and 3.30am – attempted theft of two motorbikes and a push bike outside a property in Purewell, Christchurch
Officers attended and found the push bike and one of the motorbikes a short distance from the address. One of the motorbikes, a BMW GS1200 R, was taken and found abandoned the following day in the West Moors area. Can you help with any information? Dorset Police occurrence number 55240058276.
Sunday 21 April around 2.25am – assault in Blandford
A fight was reported involving two groups of people between The Crown Hotel in West Street and The Greyhound in Market Place. Officers attended and spoke to the groups. During the incident, one man sustained a fractured eye socket and a second man sustained facial injuries. They both attended hospital for treatment. Sunday 21 April, 7.50pm – Reported dog bite in Bournemouth
The victim, a teenage girl, was cycling with her family in the Queen’s Park Golf Course when a dog ran across the path and bit her on the leg. She required stitches. When challenged the man left the scene without giving his details. He is described as in his 50s, medium build with a grey, stubbly beard. He was wearing a navy bobble hat, blue raincoat, burgundy fleece, blue waterproof trousers with black patches on the knees and pockets, and white trainers. The dog was medium sized with light brown and white short hair. Dorset Police crime number: 55240059565.
Tuesday 23 April between 11am and 9.30pm – Burglary at a home in Playfields Drive, Poole
A quantity of jewellery was stolen including six pairs of earrings, a tie pin, a broach, two watches, charm bracelet and a necklace, all in silver or gold. Did you witness any suspicious activity that could help police, or have you an relevant CCTV footage, doorbell cameras or dashcam footage. Occurrence number 55240060300.

HAMPSHIRE
On-going investigation: thefts at leisure centres in the New Forest
If you’ve recently had items stolen while on a visit to a Hampshire swimming pool, gym or leisure centre, please report this to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary. Officers are particularly keen to hear from you if you’ve had wallets, bank cards and/or cash stolen, and if this money has later been used in betting shops.
Report on 101, or by visiting the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. A 31-year-old Dorset man was arrested on Saturday 9 March in connection with five reported thefts at New Milton Health & Leisure, Gore Road. Those incidents were reported between Wednesday 28 February and Sunday 7 March. The man has been released on conditional police bail, pending further enquiries.
