Dorset support service nominated for three national awards
Supported housing provider Sportfit, which helps vulnerable young people in Dorset and Hampshire, has been nominated for several national awards.
A care provider that works with vulnerable young people across Dorset and Hampshire has been shortlisted in three categories across two national industry awards.
Based in Southampton, Sportfit Support Services provides accommodation in Bournemouth and Weymouth. It is up for two awards at the National Children & Young People Awards in the categories for Biggest Impact (team) and Supported Accommodation.
The company’s managing director, Danielle Piller, has also been recognised at the Social Care Leadership Awards. She has been nominated for Executive Children and Young People Leader of the Year.
Both awards ceremonies will be held in October.
Danielle said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been nominated at two prestigious industry awards, recognising the hard work and dedication of our team, who are extremely passionate about providing the best possible care for vulnerable young people.
“Family and home are core to Sportfit’s proposition and success. We always role model how young people in our care should live their lives and, most importantly, we always make them feel as if they are coming home.
“Our job collectively is to demonstrate the benefits of working in social care and the difference you can make to young people’s lives and these nominations are testament to that.”
Sportfit was founded in 2012 and works with children and young people to provide social and emotional support in a safe and stimulating environment. It has three core services: supported accommodation; residential children’s homes, the first of which opened in 2021; and providing education alongside a leading education service.
As an accredited provider of GCSEs, functional skills and Gateway qualifications, Sportfit has its own education centre run by qualified teachers. It will open its first school later this year.
The company’s aim is to provide a nurturing environment where service users can flourish, offering bespoke plans for each young person that promotes independence but also ensures support is tailor made to suit their individual needs.
