Driver dies after fatal car crash near Portesham
Eyewitnesses or motorists with dashcam footage of the collision which happened on 6 June on Portesham Hill are urged to contact police.
A man aged in his 60s from the Bridport area was pronounced dead at the scene after a collision near Portesham on Wednesday 6 June.
Dorset Police received a report at 6.23pm on Thursday 6 June 2024 of a single vehicle collision on Portesham Hill involving a silver Suzuki SX4. Emergency services attended the scene and very sadly the driver had died. His family has been informed.
Road closures were put in place as emergency services responded to the incident. These were lifted shortly after 9pm.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone who has relevant dashcam footage of the fatal road traffic collision to please come forward.
Inspector Craig Tatton, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who very sadly died and we are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
“I would urge any witnesses to the collision – or the manner of driving of the vehicle involved prior to it – to please contact us. I would also like to hear from any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
