Drop before you shop for Julia’s House
Parking operators have joined forces with Julia’s House children’s hospice for a new ‘drop before you shop’ initiative in Weymouth.

Britannia Parking has placed the Julia’s House charity’s first ever clothing bank on the ground floor of its multi-storey facility to help make it easier for people to make donations.
The Dorset-based company, a long-standing supporter of Julia’s House, has made two parking spaces available next to the clothing bank for motorists to drop off clothes. Town centre shoppers on foot are also welcome to donate clothes.
Britannia has teamed up with Julia’s House after the charity recently moved to a new shop at 38 St Mary Street in Weymouth. The clothing bank is the charity’s first anywhere in Dorset.
Shop manager Kim Ellis said, “This new clothing bank is ideal for busy people coming into town who want to be able to drop and go.
“We are always in need of quality secondhand clothing for our shop and this makes donating items to Julia’s House easier than ever.
“Our thanks to all at Britannia Parking for their wonderful support. The new bank looks really smart and we hope lots of people will make use of it and in doing so, know they are supporting local families going through tough times.”
Britannia Parking regional manager John Lewis added, “Julia’s House does such wonderful work for families and children when they are most in need.
“It is a charity very close to everyone’s heart at Britannia Parking and we are delighted to help.”
Julia’s House provides practical and emotional support for families caring for Dorset and Wiltshire children with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, either in their own homes, community or at its hospices.
The charity, which has hospices in Corfe Mullen and Devizes, relies on fundraising for 96 per cent of its income.
This year Julia’s House needs to raise £7.5 million to maintain its vital free service for families across the two counties.
Its charity shop relocation in Weymouth has given staff and volunteers a chance to create a more boutique shopping experience with a wider range.
Britannia Parking has raised funds for Julia’s House for many years, and recently sponsored an event at the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club in support of the charity.
