Police have enforced a drugs house closure at a flat in Lowther Road in Charminster – after drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour at the property.
The closure order was issued by Bournemouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday 10 July 2013, under the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003.
It came after complaints from local residents about drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour at the address.
Following the complaints, Dorset Police executed a drugs warrant at the property on 7 May 2013 to gather evidence of illegal drug activity. During the warrant a 40-year-old woman was arrested and cautioned for possession of a controlled drug.
PC Michaela Jephcott, of the Charminster and Queens Park Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We have listened to residents’ concerns and taken positive action on their behalf. I now hope all the residents can live peacefully in their homes.
“I would like to reassure members of the public that we will always seek to take action and use police powers where there is evidence of drug activity and anti-social behaviour, working closely with our partners at Bournemouth Borough Council.
“I would also encourage local residents to report any concerns to Dorset Police in confidence or Crimestoppers anonymously.”
The application for the closure order was supported by Bournemouth Borough Council and has been imposed until 21 August 2013. Details of the closure order have been posted on the front of the flat and anyone found breaching the closure order will be arrested.
