Ear bitten off in Bournemouth street assault: CCTV appeal
Police have released a CCTV image of people they would like to speak to in relation to an assault where the victim’s ear was partially bitten off.
Cops were called to the incident on Old Christchurch Road at around 1.40am on Wednesday 15 February after reports of a fight between two groups of people.
It is believed the victim – a 17-year-old boy from Christchurch – was attempting to break up the fight when he was hit on the head with a bottle thought to be thrown by a woman before part of his ear was bitten off by a man.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
Detective Constable Karen Penn, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was a vicious assault on a teenage boy and I am keen to locate the people pictured in the CCTV image as I believe they may have information that could assist my investigation.
“I would urge anyone who recognises them to please contact Dorset Police. Alternatively, if you are pictured please come forward.
“I understand the offenders may have got into a waiting taxi on Old Christchurch Road and I would like to hear from this taxi driver as they may have information about the incident.”
