East Dorset man arrested following racial abuse in Dorchester
Dorset Police believe there were several witnesses to this incident on Thursday 16 January and they would like to gather more information.
A 41-year-old man from East Dorset was arrested following a public order incident in Trinity Street.
At around 4.30pm on Thursday 16 January a male pedestrian told the driver of a Mercedes car to slow down as it is believed he was accelerating as the victim was crossing the road with children.
The suspect then reportedly shouted repeated racial abuse at the victim.
He was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Police Sergeant Mia Jakeman, of Dorset Police, said: “This incident happened in a busy area and I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.
“In addition, I would like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.
“I understand a number of members of the public intervened at the time and I would like to thank them for their assistance.”
