Endoscopy Department accredited for providing safe, patient-focused care

Patients coming in for endoscopy procedures at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital can feel assured they are getting the highest quality care after the department received national seal of approval.

The Endoscopy Department has been awarded JAG (Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy) Accreditation for providing a high standard of safe, patient-focused care. JAG regulates quality control for endoscopy units throughout the UK and is recognised by the Care Quality Commission.

The department was assessed in a rigorous process during September 2013, successfully meeting a series of criteria detailing how care should be provided in four different areas; clinical quality and patient safety, quality of patient experience, workforce skills and staff training.

The award sees the department become one of just 114 in the UK to secure JAG Accreditation, with assessors also praising staff for short patient waiting times, excellent engagement with patients and giving outstanding patient information both pre and post procedure.

JAG official Neil Haslam said: “I am pleased to confirm that the Endoscopy Department at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital has met all of the required JAG Accreditation standards. We would like to congratulate the Endoscopy Team for their hard work during the accreditation process.”
