For the second year running Autism Wessex is hosting an Acoustic Music Evening at 1812 Lounge Bar in Bournemouth on Thursday 6 February.
Community and Events Fundraiser, Paul Reade said: “After last year’s successful event we are delighted to be organising the event again this year. We have some talented musicians lined up, opening the show we have Corky, a 2 man band led by Nick and Jon, both users of the Dorchester Asperger Drop In Centre. Nick and Jon formed just over a year ago and have been recognised for their insightful lyrics, now launching their own music CD! We are also delighted that local bands Chen and The Agency are playing in support of the charity.’’
Tickets are just £5 with all proceeds going to Autism Wessex, the regional charity that supports anyone affected by autism.
Paul explains: “There are many benefits to using music with people on the autism spectrum. One of these benefits is that music provides the structural regularity that children with autism need. Within that structure it is possible to expand that child’s repertoire of functioning. Depending on the child’s placement on the autism spectrum, music assists with communication in different ways. For children with profound autism music is often a means of communication.’’
