Ex-hotelier’s daughter becomes bestselling author
Local author and writing tutor, Della Galton, has published the second in a series of four romantic comedy books.
Moonlight Over Studland Bay follows on from Sunshine Over Bluebell Cliff, which was an Amazon Best Seller throughout the summer and has more than 300 positive reviews.
Della was inspired to write a romcom featuring a seaside hotel because her mother, Pam, and stepdad Keith, owned and ran The Marlborough in Sea Road, Boscombe for twenty-five years.
The fictional hotel in the series, The Bluebell Cliff situated on Ballard Down overlooking Old Harry Rocks, bears a striking resemblance to The Marlborough, as in they are both Art Deco style white buildings with flat roofs.
The Bluebell Cliff is a little different to The Marlborough, though because it is a hotel where people go to live out their dreams however whacky and far-fetched they might be. If you want to break a Guinness World Record or climb up a lighthouse to propose to your lover – the Bluebell Cliff is the place to do it!
Quirky characters who come in and out of the story are features of both novels, as are animal characters, including a pair of kunekunes, an escapee goat and a three legged ex-street dog.
Both novels are about friendships and family with a sprinkling of romance and focus on the beautiful Dorset coastline.
Della has published thousands of short stories in women’s magazines and is no stranger to writing feel-good fiction. Her work is aimed at the reader who’d like to escape for a while and have a quiet giggle.
Sunshine Over Bluebell Cliff and Moonlight Over Studland Bay are published by Boldwood and are available in digital, audio, large print and paperback.
