Over the past eight Christmases a group of fundraisers have been charging into the sea in aid of local charity Macmillan Caring Locally. Last year saw over 600 people in their finest fancy dress run into the sea on Christmas Day with well over 5,000 people lining Boscombe’s promenade. Over £30,000 was raised for the charity based in Christchurch Hospital.
The event organiser, Tom Baker said, “This year, we are hoping to see over 750 people charging into the sea in some crazy fancy dress outfits whatever the weather!
“We are now probably the largest Christmas Day Dip in the UK and see no signs of giving that up.”
