Twenty five teams have already signed up for the sixth Annual Dorset Plane Pull to be held at Bournemouth Airport on Monday, 25 August where they will compete against the clock to see who can pull a 35,000kg Boeing 737 the fastest over 50 metres.
Co-Founder and organiser Richard Griffin says that there is still room for more teams. The annual event has raised over £50,000 for charity. This year nine charities are to benefit, not only from the sponsorship raised by the plane pulling teams, but from those families who attend the fun event.
“It’s become quite a spectator sport,” said Richard. “We now cater for families with activities for kids, live music, a range of catering facilities so that everyone has fun. Everyone is welcome. This year we will be joined by the Mayors of Bournemouth and Christchurch who will help us to cheer on the teams.”
The Dorset Plane pull starts at 10 am on August bank holiday Monday at European Skybus, on the Aviation Business Park accessible from Bournemouth Airport’s western entrance towards Parley.
