A 21-strong party from Colten Care’s Amberwood House residential and nursing home in Ferndown completed a sponsored walk from Baiter Park to the lifting bridge at Poole Quay and back to raise money for Forest Holme Hospice.
With a seaside theme, relatives, friends, staff and volunteers brought along buckets, spades and rubber rings alongside their collection boxes helping to raise £350.
Activities Organiser Jan Burns praised the generosity of the public in Poole, adding: “Forest Holme is our main charity this year and people we met on the walk were only too happy to contribute. It was a fun outing. Everyone got to the end and afterwards we all enjoyed a well-earned picnic lunch and ice cream.”
Amberwood House Home Manager Neil Dominy said: “As with all Colten Care homes, we have a deliberate policy of linking our activities programmes with fundraising for charities chosen by residents. Forest Holme does amazing work in the community and our residents and team members are keen to help as much as they can.”
Family-owned Colten Care operates 20 care homes across the South offering a range of services including quality residential, nursing and dementia care.
Forest Holme Hospice in Poole provides specialist end-of-life care and relies heavily on voluntary donations.
