Ferndown care home issues Christmas invitation
Local people are invited to a 1950s-themed party which is being held at Ferndown Manor on Golf Links Road.
Music, festive food and an afternoon of laughter and smiles is promised at a 1950s-themed party at a Ferndown care home – and local people are invited.
Ferndown Manor, on Golf Links Road, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas on Monday 8 December from 5pm-7pm.
The event is part of Care UK’s ‘Step into Christmas’ initiative, which aims to rekindle festive customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.
On the day, there will be toe-tapping tunes from the 50s as well as carols from Winton Salvation Army.
To add to the festive spirit, mince pies, mulled wine and hot chocolate will be prepared by the home’s head chef.
Resident Pam Clarke said: “I have lots of memories of my family traditions. We always helped make the dinner together, laughed at the jokes in the crackers, played board games and finished off the day with hot chestnuts and Christmas carols.”
Sara Muslin, home manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting a 1950s-style Christmas party that will bring the golden era back to life.
“The residents here have been sharing memories of festive celebrations from their youth, and we can’t wait to recreate that magic with the wider community.
“From vintage decorations to classic carols and treats, it is set to be an event to remember, and we encourage the people of Ferndown to come along and party with us.”
