People in Ferndown are being asked for their views on a proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for King George V Playing Field.
The PSPO would prohibit a number of antisocial activities such as dogs not being kept under control (on leads), drinking of alcohol and littering. Enforcement would be undertaken by council officers.
PSPOs were introduced in October 2014 by the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act and are designed to deal with a particular nuisance or problem in a particular area that is detrimental to the local community’s quality of life.
Cllr Julie Robinson, Chairman of the Sole Trustee of the King Georges Field Charity said: “It’s important that residents consider the proposals outlined in the PSPO as these are intended to aid the charity to further meet its aims.”
Cllr Andy Skeats, Portfolio Holder for Community at East Dorset District Council, said: “This is a good example of community working in partnership and we are happy to facilitate Public Space Protection Orders when communities support them.”
The consultation is now live and continues until 31 May 2016. It highlights the restrictions that are being proposed and views are invited on whether these are appropriate.

Paper copies are also available from Ferndown Town Council in the Barrington Centre and East Dorset District Council Offices, Furzehill. A final report on the consultation will go to the Portfolio Holder for Community and Cabinet.
