[slideshow id=90]On Saturday 29 June, Hinton Martel held its annual village fete.
The weather was ideal, with not a cloud in the sky. Jez Barfoot, a finalist in TV’s Masterchef and the proprietor of the Tickled Pig in Wimborne, was on hand to open the event and to judge the hotly-contested Victoria Sponge competition. A meal at the Tickled Pig was the prize for the winning baker.
Vintage car owners and fans alike were in for a treat, as a selection of classic motors were on display, including some groovy retro vans. Steve Glover, music teacher at Queen Elizabeth’s school, conducted a swing band with willing performers and pupils, who played for the customers of the makeshift coffee shop at the vicarage, manned by the hardworking volunteers.
The dog show drew a lot of attention, with categories for ‘waggiest tail’, ‘best small breed’ and ‘dog you’d most like to take home’, among others. All of this, coupled with a BBQ, table tennis tournament, raffle, stalls and games and much more made this years fete a very memorable occasion.
