Prepare yourself for a weekend full of family fun and the finest folk music and dance.
The third Wimborne Minster Folk Festival runs from Friday 12 June to Sunday 14 June.
The festivities will get off to a stirring start at the Allendale Centre on Friday night with live production ‘The Land Remains’ by Poacher’s Moon, mixing evocative folk songs with spoken word. Meanwhile, 8 Sharp will lead Friday’s ceilidh in the main hall.
Saturday and Sunday will see vibrant dance performances and an array of stalls around the town. Children and adults can take part in free workshops ranging from crafts to dance, while the town’s militia will fire their muskets to start the festival procession at 2.30pm on Saturday.
Three new outdoor stages have been added this year and other new attractions include a land train. There will also be atmospheric folk music in the historic Minster on Saturday evening.
Headliners for the afternoon and evening concerts at the Allendale Centre include Gilmore & Roberts, Sunjay, Louise Jordan, Alex Roberts Duo and Bright Season. There’s a distinctly local flavour to the programme, also including Dorset’s Will McNicol and Luke Selby, Kadia, Ninebarrow and Pachango.
Most daytime events are free while tickets are still available online and on the door for a number of concerts. For more information go to www.wimbornefolk.co.uk or visit Wimborne Tourist Information Centre or the Allendale Centre.
