Detectives in Poole are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following reports that a firearm was discharged in the Turlin Moor.
Dorset Police received two reports of ‘loud bangs’, believed to be the sound of a firearm discharging, in the vicinity of Junction Road between 10pm and 10.30pm on Friday 29 August 2014.
DC Sara Butler said: “No-one was injured as a result of this incident and it is not clear exactly what type of device has caused the noise. No damage was discovered at the scene. I understand that three or four teenage boys, aged around 16, were seen in the area at the time of the incident. They were all wearing dark clothing and were last seen heading in the direction of Hamworthy train station. One of these boys was carrying a long black object.”
Following Friday’s reports, armed response officers attended the scene and searched the surrounding area. No arrests have been made.
DC Butler continued: “I am appealing for anyone who was on or near Junction Road on Friday night and who saw or heard any suspicious activity to contact police as soon as possible. I would also like to speak with anyone who may have information about the device that was used.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 29:537. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
