Autism Wessex is providing the local community with a festive treat to say thank you for their support of the regional charity by hosting a FREE Christmas Carol Concert at the beautiful Priory Church in Christchurch on 10 December from 7pm.
Paul Reade, Community and Events Fundraiser comments; “This is one of our favourite events in our busy calendar and is a heart warming festive occasion for all the family. Please come along and join us for a mix of festive and funky songs from the Funky Little Choir Company who will be singing for us during the evening, as well as readings from local community members and mince pies and drinks after the ceremony, courtesy of Waitrose of Christchurch. This is a really popular event to get you in the spirit of Christmas so we would advise you all to arrive early to secure a seat.”
This year’s event will be attended by the Mayor of Christchurch, Councillor Lofts as well as service users, some of whom will be performing a reading.
The charity employs over 450 staff in Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Somerset; 90% of employees work directly with service users either at the school, within residential homes or as part of the community support service under Community Wessex.
Many people with autism need ongoing support, every day of the week, every week of the year. Autism Wessex continues to grow to meet demand and will be opening a new residential home for four young adults in Hampshire in September this year. Over the past three years the charity has acquired and opened a residential home every year to meet demand.
So much of the charity’s income relies on public support and this event is a way of thanking the local community for their continued and valued contributions.
