Free health checks available in Boscombe
Students from Health Sciences University will be on hand to provide support and advice to the community until 11 October.
If you’re in need of health advice or a check-up, then head to Boscombe where a free health and support pop-up event is open all week at the Boscombe Arts Depot at 616–622 Christchurch Road, opposite Costa Coffee.
The six-day event began on Monday 6 October and has been organised by staff and students from Health Sciences University. It aims to foster positive health and community wellbeing by allowing visitors to access free advice all in one place.
Services available include free NHS health checks for those aged 40–74, chiropractic triage, dietetics, physio health, blood pressure and BMI checking, exercise and massage sessions, podiatry, speech and language therapy and children & babies triage. There are also additional one-off sessions available, including a well-being session with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Community Action Network (CAN) and Help & Care will also be at the pop-up event throughout the week, providing additional support and advice.
Daniel Heritage, chiropractic clinic lead at Health Sciences University and one of the organisers of the event, said: “As Health Sciences University is based in the centre of Boscombe, it is important to support our local community, offering a range of healthcare services, as well as providing a unique learning experience for our students.
“It is also really important for us to work with our community partners who can provide additional support and signpost people to a wide range of other services, so members of the Boscombe community can get the support and care they need.”
Visit the pop-up between 10am and 4pm until Saturday 11 October. A daily timetable of services and events is published on the HSU website: https://www.hsu.ac.uk/pop-up/
