Builders and architects in Christchurch and East Dorset are being invited to a free seminar on changes to the BS5534 standard for slating and tiling on Tuesday 24 November from 11.45am to 1.30pm.
The seminar is being organised by Christchurch and East Dorset Councils’ Building Control Department.
Changes to the BS5534 were made recently to improve the security of roof structures and the seminar will explain the main changes and give an overview of the causes and implications of these wide reaching developments.
David Gale, Building Control Manager at Christchurch and East Dorset Councils, said: “This is one of a number of free seminars to show our commitment to construction professionals in the area. We hope that offering training opportunities will benefit the industry in a number of ways and help to maintain, and even raise, standards.”
The event is being held at the East Dorset District Council offices at Furzehill, near Wimborne and will include lunch. There will be an opportunity to ask questions of building inspectors from the councils who will be present. A CPD certificate will be issued.
Anyone interested in attending should email buildingcontrol@eastdorset.gov.uk to book a place.
