Dorset Fire and Rescue Service is holding a free information session at Christchurch Civic Offices in Bridge Street on Wednesday 5 November from 2pm to 4pm to encourage local businesses to be fire safe.
This interactive session will provide local business owners with practical fire safety advice to reduce the likelihood of a fire. It will also give support and guidance to ensure businesses comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service understands that running a business takes a lot of hard work and time, before business owners and managers have even considered what “other” legal responsibilities they have. The session aims to give a better understanding of what businesses need to do to keep everyone safe and the business “in business”.
Emma Turner, Business and Partnership Engagement Officer at Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: “In England and Wales, if you’re an employer, owner, landlord or occupier of a business, you’re responsible for fire safety under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This legislation ensures people in or around commercial premises are safe from fire.”
“This session will be taking a look at what the legal responsibilities under the Fire Safety Order are, as well as giving lots of practical advice about fire precautions and the fire risk assessment process.”
If you would like to book a place on the session, please contact Emma Turner on 01305 252785 or email businessadvice@dorsetfire.gov.uk with your details, including your type of business.
