Jazz funk legend Roy Ayers
A thousand complimentary tickets are being offered by Bournemouth-born entertainment entrepreneur Paul Potter to the re-launch of The Dudsbury pub – still known to many as 20 on The River – as The Dusbury Country Club.
The star-studded event on 25 June will be raising money for charity and people are being offered the chance to see American jazz funk star Roy Ayers for free, in exchange for a donation to Bournemouth-based Round Table Children’s Wish.
Best known for his hits “Everybody Loves The Sunshine” and “Searchin’,” Roy Ayers and his band are the headline act on the Sunday of the Glastonbury Festival.
Paul said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Roy Ayers to our launch party. He’s an absolute legend in the music world.
“The event opens at 6pm with Roy and his band live on stage at 7.30pm, followed by DJs until 2am.
“We hope lots of people will go online for their free tickets, have a great night and doing so do their bit to help grant the wishes of poorly children.”
Karen Winchcombe, director of Round Table Children’s Wish said: “We are absolutely over the moon to have Paul’s support – our supporters make our work with children possible.
“It should be a great night, and I for one can’t wait to sing along to Everybody Loves the Sunshine!”
Round Table Children’s Wish is a national charity based in Bournemouth, it was founded by the Round Table and makes wishes come true for children aged 4-17 who have life-threatening illnesses. It celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
