Free tropical butterfly attraction at Stewarts in Christchurch
Would you like to face-to-face with some of the world’s more exotic species of butterfly?
Just pop along to Stewarts Garden Centre at Christchurch and you will have that opportunity as the team has launched a temporary Butterfly House – and there is no entrance fee.
Kat Hunt, project manager, says, “It will be an opportunity for people to walk within the heated butterfly house and watch as the colourful and large species, some the size of small birds and bats, flutter over their heads as they travel from plant to plant. Some may land on you if you wear something colourful!”
“It will be an opportunity for people to walk within the heated butterfly house and watch as the colourful and large species, some the size of small birds and bats, flutter over their heads as they travel from plant to plant. Some may land on you if you wear something colourful,” said Kat. “There will also be an incubation area where some of the later hatching pupae will be seen transforming into the beautiful insects. Once the exhibition closes in mid-September the butterflies will be donated to the New Forest Wildlife Centre near Ashurst to join an established colony.
