Lewis-Manning Hospice is hoping to break its own fundraising record at Luscombe Valley Railway in Sandbanks this Saturday with the Christmas ‘Humbug Run’.
The popular local attraction is run by Richard and Connie Knott who nominated to support Lewis-Manning in 2013, having done so previously 3 years ago. The couple have already opened up their meticulously assembled railway collection, set in the grounds of their home in Brudenell Avenue, to the public three times so far this year. The charity, which offers free palliative nursing care to hundreds of local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, is now firmly on target to smash the £10,000 it achieved in 2010.
Entry to the event, which is open from 11am until 4pm, is by donation and visitors will have opportunity to meet Father Christmas between 12.30pm and 2pm whilst celebrating the up-and-coming festive season riding the 5” gauge rails. The Verwood Concert Ensemble will also be there singing carols during the day.

We are now very excited to finish the year with some festive fun and, of course, it would also be a lovely bonus to break our fundraising record, too.”
