Charities and community groups based in Dorset (excluding Bournemouth and Poole) can now apply for a grant of up to the value of £7,500 from Dorset County Communities Fund, managed by Dorset Community Foundation. The third funding round is now open and will close at 1pm on 15 March 2013.
The fund has been set up by Dorset County Council to build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector and parish and town councils, in order to deliver stronger services and support for local communities. Dorset County Communities Fund will support new and distinct parcels of work, which must have a start and a finish date, a budget as well as specific outcomes and outputs.
Past funding rounds distributed over £410,000 to 108 charities and community groups across Dorset. One of the successful groups funded from the third round is Dorset Youth Association – a community group improving the quality of life for children and young people throughout Dorset. Dorset Youth Association delivers services directly for children and young people by providing infrastructure support to enable volunteer youth workers and other youth charities and organisations. The grant of £5,874 will help the organisation mentor 20 young people, 10 of whom are disabled.
