More than 130 medical staff, patients and keen cyclists have raised over £5,000 for heart equipment at Bournemouth Hospital Charity’s cycling event Pedal Power.
The money will go towards an electrocardiograph (ECG) machine for the Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s Heart Unit. ECG machines play an essential role in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease and around 50,000 ECGs are carried out in the Heart Unit each year.
Barry Wilson, events officer for Bournemouth Hospital Charity, said: “Our second Pedal Power event has been a huge success. We were extremely lucky again with the weather which couldn’t have been better!
“The cyclists on the day and everyone who sponsored them as well as our corporate supporters including Eden Vauxhall have all helped to make a real difference to patients’ lives and we’re very grateful to them.”
Fundraisers cycled a choice of a 10km, 50km or 100km routes through picturesque New Forest villages in the beautiful sunshine at the end of September.
