Around 400 people enjoyed this years Open Gardens Day held in aid of Wimborne in Bloom on Sunday 28th June. Apart from a little rain as the gardens were opening at 11.00am it was ideal weather for walking round gardens, albeit on the grey side, but not too hot or cold!
This year there were 6 new gardens with a number returning from previous years amongst the total of 21 open. Teas were on hand at a number of venues.
Visitors came from near and far and Richard Nunn, Chairman of Wimborne in Bloom speaking after the event thanked all who had made this such a successful day – the garden owners and their helpers, those serving refreshments, selling plants and, of course, the great support from the public who all seemed to have enjoyed their day exploring. It was a fantastic result and walking round the gardens was a delight. We were also most grateful to the Olive Branch (Hall & Woodhouse) for their sponsorship of the event which helped to fund the posters, handbills and programmes.
A total of around £2,500 was raised towards this years in Bloom Campaign.
The Committee is now preparing for the Regional Judging of the Town. This takes place on the morning of Friday 10th July. There will be a litter pick on the evening of Thursday 9th July. If you can help please come to 34 Park Lane, at 7.30pm.
