2017 General Election results in our area
Strong results for Conservative candidates across Dorset and West Hampshire in Thursday’s 2017 General Election as the Tories claim all available seats
Unlike in some other areas of the UK, the Conservatives have won all the elections across the 4Dorset and Viewpoint magazine areas. Labour increased their vote share in many of the constituencies, particularly Bournemouth East, while there was a strong Liberal Democrat performance in mid-Dorset and North Poole.
Poole
Robert Syms, Conservative, 28,888 votes (57.95% of the vote)
Mid-Dorset and North Poole
Michael Tomlinson, Conservative 28,585 votes (59.24%)
Bournemouth West
Connor Burns, Conservative 23,812 votes (53.5%)
Bournemouth East
Tobias Elwood, Conservative 25221 votes (51.88%)
North Dorset
Simon Hoare, Conservative 36,169 (64.9%)
Christchurch
Christopher Chope, Conservative 35,230 (69.58%)
New Forest West
Desmond Swayne, Conservative 33170 (66.84%)
There was not such a strong performance for the Conservatives across the whole of the UK, with Labour making many gains resulting currently in a hung parliament.
