Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, today begins its second month-long on-board collection this year to raise vital research funds for its chosen charity partner, Cancer Research UK. In February, generous passengers raised over £35,000 boosting the total amount raised by Flybe passengers and staff since 2009 to more than £500,000.
Passengers on all of the airline’s flights operated from Bournemouth this month will be invited to make a donation and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Office, comments: “June marks the start of our second month-long on board collection this year for our charity partner, Cancer Research UK. We hope to exceed the amount so generously donated in February and thank all those passengers who so enthusiastically embrace our fundraising efforts with true purple Flybe passion. We are extremely grateful to them for their continued support in boosting further our own staff efforts.”
Laura Skinner, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Cancer Research UK, adds: “In February this year, Flybe customers generously donated tens of thousands of pounds in loose change to fund our life-saving work. We’re delighted that Flybe is supporting us again this month and hope to raise even more to support our research and help us beat cancer sooner.
Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for its ground-breaking research. So funds raised through supporters like Flybe and its customers is crucial to the work of the doctors, nurses and scientists who work day and night to fight cancer on all fronts.
