Get on your bike to support Cancer Research UK
The 2021 Rotary Dorset Bike Ride, which starts and finishes at Longthorns Campsite, takes place on Sunday 10 October.
With the weather promising to be a lot better than it was last weekend, organisers of the 2021 Rotary Dorset Bike Ride are optimistic about the event which takes place this Sunday 10 October.
Riders can resister on the day for the ride which starts and finishes at Longthorns Campsite next to Monkey World, near Wareham.
Organised in support of Cancer Research UK, it has raised over £300,000 since its launch in 2012. Many of the riders have their own stories about loved ones who have suffered from this terrible disease. This year is particularly poignant for event organiser, Richard Burnett, who was diagnosed with cancer late last year.
Richard said: “While some of my close family have known cancer, it was a huge surprise to find out I had prostate cancer. This gave me renewed vigour to support Cancer Research UK through the Rotary Dorset Bike Ride. While we had to cancel the 2019 event due to COVID, I was determined that this year’s event would take place.”
There is a choice of five different routes 22, 35, 55, 70 and 108 miles in length. Registration opens at 7.30am, with the first ride, the 108kms, starting at 8am.
